There were three of them.
A large one, with two smaller cats, we guessed that they were it's cubs.
They were pawing at their mother, generally fooling around, just like as you would see in a wildlife documentary.
Except this was happening inside a place were I used to play footy as a kid.
A truly amazing sight, which I would never forget.
Oh and they were black.
The mother of the pack was absolutely huge.
Massive shoulder blades, and a huge tail. I saw the cats on Beresford Park playing fields, close to the river bank.
Someone else saw just one of them, on the river bank, an hour after our sighting, and he reported it.
It made the front page of the HDM.
Seeing is believing bretheren.

Hello, just curious if you have an animal print expert there? I have access
to some photo's of prints that I have spent many hours on the net trying to
identify but to no avail, even a national parks expert is unable to identify
them. Large creature, distance between prints is about 1.7m, also have
evidence of smaller prints/not full grown. 4 toes, 4 claws, not retracted
while walking. Not cat, dog or any animal with pad like feet as it looks
like it has 2 halves to its foot, 2 toes each side.
Any info would be much appreciated. Thankyou.

Reported: on phone
Winona called the AXMNU to report a few sightings of a puma
like animal on Scott River Road in Augusta. Both sightings
took place in the morning.
Once she found a kangaroo carcass on the side of the road
with the head cleanly removed. Her father, who was a vet
at the time concluded that very few animals could kill like
that and chances were it was a big cat that had killed the
kangaroo. The carcass was gone later in the day.

Peter is a trout fisherman that called to report experiences
he had in the 1970s whilst guiding fishing tours. Three of
four times he had seen kangaroos jump from a 3 foot drop
into the river and not move as if they were being chased
by a large predator. He also found cat prints in the mud
at the side of the river. He also told of friends and visitors
reportedly seeing Big Cats.

Walking along the creekbed just off the Putty Rd in the Howes
valley last year, I spotted footprints in the sand that were
very large. They appeared fresh. We have a 90kg Newfoundland
dog (who has never been to Howes valley so they weren’t
his) and the footprints were similar in size.
A couple of weeks ago my daughter reported that friends of
hers went shooting in this area not long ago and shot a large
mail roo. Later that night they returned to find the roo
carcass in the fork of a nearby tree.

In 1988
whilst road testing a vehicle on a rough track called the
sand mine road between Hawks Nest
and Seal Rocks, I came to the crest of a hill and had slowed
down, and about 150 metres in front of my vehicle a huge
cat like animal walked to the middle of the road and stopped.
I
turned my motor off slowly let my vehicle roll down the
slight hill and the cat stayed on the road for at least
2 minutes.
It was well over 2 feet high and did not hear my vehicle
or look my way and then slowly wandered off the road in
an easterly
direction and disappeared. I looked in the bush as I went
past but was unable to see it again.

I live at Engadine in Sydney. On Friday 19/11/04 my friend
and I went rock climbing in some bush between Menai and Engadine.
We were packing up when I discovered a huge paw print stamped
into a dirt patch on a rock surface; the print was well detailed,
along with the paw were some very long nails at the end of
two toes that we could see. There were no more prints around
it because of the rock floor. We could not explain what it
was and I have been scratching my head wondering what it was
and joking with my mates that it was a mountain lion of some
sort, that was until I read your article in the paper. Now
I realise it is no joke, this is as real as day. My friend
and I have both taken photos on our phones but can't get them
out to email them to you. We scaled the print by putting a
50 cent piece beside the it. We intend to return this Wednesday
to take photos in greater detail and take a plaster cast of
the print before the weather removes it completely.
